Ag. Water & Power Users of Eastern Washington
Ag. Water & Power Users of Eastern Washington was formed in 2008 to address critical power rate and water supply issues impacting irrigators in Eastern Washington. Specifically, Ag. Water & Power Users of Eastern Washington objectives are to restructure the irrigation power rate schedules, negotiate future rate increases, advocate for new supplies of irrigation water through conservation and additional storage, and to speak with one voice. Additionally, as a group, Ag. Water & Power Users of Eastern Washington works to select and support candidates who know, appreciate and support irrigated agriculture in Eastern Washington.
Ag. Water & Power recently completed a white paper analysis which tells the story of irrigated agriculture in Grant County, which is the largest irrigated agriculture county in production value in Washington State.
Following are some of the highlights of the white paper:
Water & power issues are becoming major issues for irrigated agriculture in Eastern Washington. As a result, Ag. Water & Power Users of Eastern Washington needs every irrigator and every ag business in Grant County and Eastern Washington to become members of our organization. We need to ensure that agriculture continues to be the largest economic driver in Eastern Washington.
Ag. Water & Power Users of Eastern Washington is a 501(c) 4 non-profit organization registered in Washington State. Members are asked to pay $0.50 per horsepower. All funds are held and controlled by Larson Allen in Moses Lake, Washington.
